Got the 12" version. Solid wood, good brass piece. Mounted it with a hook I screwed into the piece. The only negative thing is that the steering pegs are smaller than I thought.

This ships wheel is lovely! Great accessory for our little pirates bed. He loves it! We hung it on a over the door hook so he can spin it or carry it around as he wishes. Perfect for any pirate!
