To get the unit out of the box, we stook it up on end, which allowed the pop up hydraulic to engage. It wasn't difficult to collapse though. Set up took a while, as the set-up manual wasn't very detailed. It works great! We use for walking only. It isn't too heavy and with the wheels, it is easy to move.
